NIGERIA SOLDIERS ROLES OUT TANKS KILLED NOT LESS THAN 82 BOKO HARAM FIGHTERS.

NIGERIAN military, on Sunday night resisted an attempt by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, to capture Damboa, as men of the military, in conjunction with local vigilantes, popularly called Civilian JTF, repelled their attacks, killing not less than 82 of the Boko Haram fighters.

Nigerian Tribune in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, reported that the Civilian JTF were seen in hundreds moving towards Damboa on Monday.

According to Isa Adamu, a member of the team, the battle took place on Sunday evening, when some of the insurgents being pursued by the Cameroon military from Gwoza axis, following the fall of their caliphate in Gwoza, made an inroad to Damboa, with a determination to retake the town.

Members of the sect met a strong opposition as the Nigerian military fought gallantly to repel them, a development that caused the fighters not less than 82 men.

He said the civilian JTF members were going to Damboa to give support to the people as usual and to give support to those in Damboa who are supporting the military.

“If the soldiers know that we who are holding sticks and cutlasses and are not running away from the Boko Haram, they are encouraged and together, we fight and defeat Boko Haram.

“We use to follow some of the sect members who are on the run, in order to kill them. I think the Boko Haram fears us more because of the way we kill them, as we cut them into pieces,” Adamu said.

Speaking on why they were not handing over the insurgents to the military, he said, “when they attack Maiduguri last week Sunday and the penultimate Sunday, we cut them to pieces. There is no time to keep them, so we give them justice as we arrest them,” he added.

While, collaborating Isa Adamu, a source within the military confirmed the attack on Damboa on Sunday, saying that “our boys rolled out tanks on them, as only few escaped and they were being pursued.

“The civilian JTF are also doing well in this fight. Most of us soldiers do not know these boys, but the civilian JTF knows them too well. Once they see eye to eye, they know this one is Boko Haram. Sometimes we do not stop them from killing the Boko Haram because if we tried to intervene, it is going to cause trouble.

“Also, we too are killing just as the Boko Haram too are killing both soldiers and civilian JTF members.”
